MARU does not require an account and does not sell personal data.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to The Korea Letter, we store your email address and chosen language only to send the letter. You can unsubscribe at any time from any letter or by emailing hello@readmaru.com, and we will delete your address.

Questions you send

Questions sent through “Ask a Korean” are stored so we can read them and may be quoted without your name in future stories. Please do not include private information.

Statistics

We use privacy-friendly, cookie-free visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to see which stories are read. Spam protection stores only a one-way hash of your IP address for a short time.

Advertising

If we show ads in the future (for example Google AdSense), the ad provider may use cookies; we will update this page before that happens.
