The scene

Key scenes of the 2026 box-office hit were shot at this Joseon-era open set, including Gwangcheon-gol, the remote mountain village where the exiled boy king Danjong (Park Ji-hoon) comes to live under the watch of a village chief (Yoo Hae-jin).

How to get there
From Seoul, take the KTX-Eum from Pangyo Station to Mungyeong Station (about 1 hr 30 min; only a few trains a day, so book ahead), then a bus (about 15 min) or taxi to Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park. Or take an intercity bus from Dong Seoul Bus Terminal to Mungyeong Bus Terminal in Mungyeong-eup (about 2 hr), then a local bus or taxi (about 10 min). From the park's parking lot, walk about 1.7 km (25 min) past the First Gate (Juheulgwan); the set is on the left. In season, an electric shuttle runs from the Old Road Museum to the set (about 5 min, 2,000 won).
Tip
Open 09:00–18:00 (Mar–Oct) and 09:00–17:00 (Nov–Feb); adults 2,000 won. Closed on Jan 1, Seollal, Chuseok and some filming days, so check before you go. A large map inside the set marks the film's shooting points, and Gwangcheon-gol has been tidied up for photos. On weekends and holidays in season (through October), you can borrow a hanbok or royal robe for free at Sajeongjeon hall. Weekday mornings are the quietest.

Checked on October 2, 2026. Hours and fees can change, so check the official site before you go. In Korea, Google Maps can’t give walking or driving directions — Naver Map or Kakao Map work best.
