The scene

This 2026 horror hit, which passed 3 million moviegoers in Korea, follows Kim Hye-yoon as a producer-director sent to a remote reservoir for a reshoot. The story is set in Yesan, but the Jeonnam Film Commission lists Damyang Lake as a shooting location, and Korean reports place the film's waterside and lake-surface scenes here.

How to get there
From Seoul's Central City Terminal (Express Bus Terminal Station, Lines 3, 7 and 9), direct express buses reach Damyang Bus Terminal (담양공용버스터미널) in about 3 hours 30 minutes, about seven a day from 07:00 (confirm times and book ahead). From the terminal, a taxi to Chuwolsan car park (추월산 주차장) is about 12 km, roughly 20 minutes: show the driver 추월산로 981. Rural bus 60-1 toward Gamagol (가마골) also passes the lake; get off at the 담양호국민관광단지 or 추월산 stop. A December 2025 guide lists about eight trips a day, including 07:00, 08:20, 10:00 and 12:00, with buses back to the terminal leaving Gamagol at 14:30, 15:50, 18:20 and 19:40 and passing the lake a little later, so ask at the terminal for current times. Buses back to Seoul take just under 4 hours; published timetables disagree on the last one (17:10 or 19:10), so check before you go.
Tip
Start at Chuwolsan car park, where parking is free, and walk Yongmaru-gil (용마루길), a 3.9 km lakeside path of wooden deck and dirt trail; allow about 2 hours round trip. It's reported as open all year at all hours with no entry fee, but go in daylight, as restrooms and restaurants are only at the entrance and part of the upper path was still being built in the latest report. The deck sections along the water make the best lake photos. Neither the film commission nor news reports name the exact shore used, so enjoy it as the film's lake, not a matched shot. Reports describe the lake as a protected water-source area, so stay on the path and off the water. The reservoir in the film's title is a different place in Yesan, South Chungcheong, which has had night-time access limits, so don't mix up the two.

Checked on November 7, 2026; confirm on the official site before you go.
