The scene

In Netflix's 2026 dark fantasy The East Palace, starring Nam Joo-hyuk, Roh Yoon-seo and Cho Seung-woo, the pond seen in this story of a haunted Joseon-era palace is a small reservoir on a university campus, along with the walkway beside it. Korean news outlets reported that after the series came out, fans from Korea and abroad began visiting.

How to get there: Take the KTX from Seoul or Yongsan Station (or the SRT from Suseo) to Cheonan-Asan Station, about 35–45 minutes. From there a taxi takes about 15–20 minutes (roughly 9 km); show the driver 호서대학교 아산캠퍼스 소류지. City bus Sunhwan 5 (순환5) also links Cheonan-Asan Station with the Hoseo University terminus stop (호서대학교 기점), but it runs only about every 45 minutes on a long, winding route. The pond is roughly a 10-minute walk south of that stop.
From Incheon Airport: take the AREX to Seoul Station, then a KTX to Cheonan-Asan Station; with the taxi ride to campus.
Admission: No admission fee; the pond path is part of the open campus grounds.
Tip: Entry is free. This is a working university, and students use the path by the pond every day, so keep your voice down, don't block the walkway and don't film students. For photos, frame the water with the walkway along its edge. Spring cherry blossoms and autumn leaves are the prettiest seasons, and weekends or school vacations are quieter. The campus itself is modern with no palace buildings: the pond and its walkway are what fans come to see.
Plan your visit: Plan 30–60 minutes at the pond, known locally as Sechul Soryuji (세출소류지), plus extra time if you want to see the rest of the campus. The university says its European-style buildings and lawn plaza were also used for the series, and the campus has appeared in other dramas such as Reborn Rich and The Whirlwind (돌풍). Cherry blossoms around the water make early April the most photogenic time, and the school's main switchboard is 041-540-5114 if you need directions on the day.
