The scene

Netflix's mystery thriller The Price of Confession (2025) follows Yun-su (Jeon Do-yeon), a woman accused of murdering her husband, and Mo Eun (Kim Go-eun), a mysterious inmate called a witch, and it reached No. 1 on Netflix's global non-English TV chart in its second week. Jangheung County and Korean news reports list the series among the productions shot inside this real 1975 prison, which closed in 2015 and has also appeared in The Glory and All of Us Are Dead.

How to get there
Take an express bus from Seoul's Central City Terminal (Honam Line side, Express Bus Terminal Station) to Jangheung Intercity Bus Terminal: about 4 hours 20 minutes, with eight departures a day between 07:20 and 17:10. From the terminal, Papillon Zip is roughly 1.5 km away: about a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute taxi ride. Another option is the KTX from Yongsan to Gwangju Songjeong (about 2 hours), then a taxi to Gwangju's U-Square Bus Terminal and an intercity bus to Jangheung (about 1.5–2 hours). If you drive, search “빠삐용Zip 주차장” in Kakao Map: the parking entrance is on the opposite side of the site from the main gate.
Tip
Open 09:00–18:00 from March to October and 09:00–17:00 from November to February; ticket sales stop one hour before closing. Closed on Mondays (on Tuesday when Monday is a public holiday), on January 1 and on Seollal and Chuseok days. Admission is ₩3,000 for adults, ₩2,000 for teens and soldiers and ₩1,500 for children; under-6s go free. The cell blocks, the high walls and the watchtower are kept as they were, and you can sit in the old visiting room for a prison-drama-style photo. Guided programs need a separate booking (061-864-5711 or the website). Crews still film here, so call ahead before a long trip, and buses back to Seoul are few, so check the last departure.

Checked on October 27, 2026; confirm on the official site before you go.
