The scene

Netflix's 2026 Joseon-era drama The Scandal, a retelling of Les Liaisons dangereuses starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook and Nana, filmed a horse galloping along this reservoir's embankment path beneath its centuries-old king willows. The same willow-lined bank has also appeared in historical dramas such as Love in the Moonlight and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.

How to get there
From Seoul Station, take the KTX to Dongdaegu (about 1 hr 40 min, very frequent), then a Korail train to Gyeongsan Station (8–10 min, about 23 a day). About 3 KTX trains a day also run straight from Seoul to Gyeongsan in about 2 hr. From Gyeongsan Station, a taxi to Bangokji takes about 15–20 min (about 11 km). Local buses to the village are infrequent, so a taxi is the easiest option; book your ride back with a taxi app such as Kakao T.
Tip
Admission and parking are free. The best views are along the roughly 150 m embankment on the northeast side, lined with king willows estimated to be 200 to 300 years old; come early on a calm morning for mirror-like reflections and mist on the water. The city has put up a banner and life-size character standees at the filming spot for photos. In April the peach orchards around the reservoir bloom pink and weekends get very crowded, so go on a weekday if you can. The orchards and houses around the water are private farms and homes, so stay on the paths, don't pick any fruit and keep your voice down. As of 2025, a path section leading from the rest area was closed for safety, so follow the signs on site. Several cafés overlook the reservoir.

Checked on October 9, 2026. Hours and fees can change, so check the official site before you go. In Korea, Google Maps can’t give walking or driving directions — Naver Map or Kakao Map work best.
